Habitat for Humanity House

HFH Mississippi

Escala

Location: Mississippi, U.S.A.

The form of the house evolved from the Mississippi dogtrot, a house typology that has a large central volume flanked by rooms with windows on all exterior walls and elevated above the ground.

The second source of inspiration for the design of this new housing prototype comes from structurally insulated panel systems (SIPS). The SIP panels are factory manufactured and consist of rigid foam insulation sandwiched between two sheets of oriented strand board acting as a structural skin.
